Molyneux Street
London W1

Situated in Marylebone central London, this garden extension was for a family who had outgrown their 4 storey Georgian terrace house and required additional living space with more light and openness directly connecting into their garden. The idea was to wrap the new building around the perimeter of the garden creating a courtyard, or outdoor room, which, with the use of folding sliding doors, could be incorporated into the new living areas when weather allows and occasion requires.

Materials used included: grey limestone (polished internally, honed to the courtyard); American white oak timber flooring (compatible with underfloor heating); cement render; and a sedum roof to enhance views from the upper floors of neighbouring houses. Walls are predominately coloured white to increase light reflectance.
