Rainbow & Dove Pub Extension
Essex

The adjacent images and drawings show early feasibility studies we prepared investigating the potential for adding hotel rooms to an existing pub and restaurant by extending the 17th century farmhouse it currently occupies.

Our two options, offering varying extents of additional floor space, simply extruded the form of the original building separated then repeated to the rear creating a double-loaded corridor of hotel rooms. A new glazed access stair clearly articulates the old and new forms.

Principal material options being explored include black stained timber combined with gold anodised aluminium window frames (relating to the gold lettering if the signage) or cedar shingles with more restrained black anodised windows to the bedrooms. Both options would be timber frame structures built off a plinth level of red-brick, common with the existing building.
