Ruby Street
London
Located in amongst a liberatingly mixed and messy area of south east London just off the Old Kent Road, this is our first study for replacing a studio flat above a single car garage into a 2-3 bedroom house over 4 floors with roof terrace.
The spiralling route from the windowless ground level, past bedroom floors behind perforated brickwork, ascends to an extensively glazed third floor living space with views of the central London skyline, adjacent gas holders and south-east horizon of suburban hinterland, then finishing on a panoramic roof terrace.
Primary external materials are brick and bronze anodised panels and window frames combining with similarly robust and low maintenance finishes options being explored for the interior.
